OASI for your self-employed activity

As a self-employed person, you pay OASI (Old-Age and Survivors’ Insurance) contributions yourself, based on your annual income. There is no employer to share the cost: you are responsible for the full amount of the contribution.

Your OASI situation

From the start of your self-employed activity, you must be affiliated with a compensation fund, which recognizes your self-employed status and calculates your contributions based on your annual income.

Unlike an employee, you do not have an employer to share the cost: you are solely responsible for the full amount of the contribution, adjusted each year once your actual income is known, generally on the basis of your tax assessment. You are also responsible for all administrative procedures related to your affiliation, whereas employees have these largely handled by their employer.

  • Affiliation from the outset
Your self-employed status must be recognised.

  • Income-based contributions
The contribution rate varies according to your declared income.

  • 100% personal contribution
Without an employer, you pay the full amount yourself.

Our frequently asked questions

How is my self-employed status recognised?

Our fund examines your situation (the nature of your activity, organisational and economic independence, and entrepreneurial risk-taking) to determine whether or not to recognise your self-employed status. This recognition determines your affiliation.

Are my contributions fixed permanently from the outset?

No. Your contributions are first set provisionally based on your estimated income, then adjusted once your actual income is known (usually via your tax assessment).

What happens if my income varies significantly from one year to the next?

Your contributions are recalculated each year based on your actual income. If there is a significant change, please contact us: we can adjust your provisional instalments during the year.
