YOUR BENEFIT ENTITLEMENTS, TODAY OR TOMORROW

OASI, DI and helplessness allowances: these benefits may concern you at different stages of your life, whether at retirement, in the event of a long-term incapacity for work, or when daily assistance is required. Understanding your entitlements helps you take the right steps at the right time, without unpleasant surprises.

OLD-AGE PENSION (OASI)

The OASI pension is never paid automatically: request the form from your employer 3 to 4 months before your chosen retirement date. You may also take retirement early from the age of 63 or defer it for up to 5 years, with a direct impact on the amount of your pension.

DISABILITY INSURANCE (DI)

If a health condition permanently limits your capacity to work, you, your employer or your treating physician may report your situation to the DI office for early detection, enabling early intervention and helping to prevent job loss.

HELPLESSNESS ALLOWANCE

If you require regular and substantial assistance from another person to carry out everyday activities, such as getting up, washing or moving around, you may be entitled to a helplessness allowance, paid in addition to any DI or OASI pension.

Our frequently asked questions

How do I apply for my OASI pension?

The pension is never paid out automatically. Please ask your employer (or our pension fund if you are no longer in employment) for the form at least 6 months before your chosen retirement date.

What should I do if my health prevents me from working on a lasting basis?

Talk to your employer or your treating doctor: an early detection notification can be sent to the AI office (disability insurance office) after just 30 days of uninterrupted incapacity to work, so that measures can be considered even before a possible pension claim is made.

Can I continue working while receiving an AVS (old-age) pension?

Yes. Contributions remain due on your salary, with an annual exemption of CHF 1,400.–/month (or CHF 16,800.–/year), unless you explicitly request to waive this exemption in order to continue improving your future pension.
