Each year brings its share of updates: contribution rates, deadlines, updated documents and legislative changes. To help you move forward with confidence, we provide all the information you need for 2026, with access tailored to your situation: self-employed, employer with employees, or employer without employees.
New family allowance contribution rates
From 2026, family allowance (FA) contribution rates will change depending on the canton. In Geneva, the rate rises to 2.290%, fully payable by the employer (including 0.070% earmarked for early childhood care). In Valais, the total rate is 3.291%, split between the employer (3.160%) and the employee (0.131%) — the employee's share is decreasing.
CO2 levy redistribution: what's changing from 2025
From 2025, the method used to calculate the redistribution of the CO₂ levy to businesses is changing. It will no longer be based on the OASI payroll, but on the payroll subject to unemployment insurance, capped at CHF 148,200 per employee per year. Companies exempt from the CO₂ levy will no longer be eligible for this redistribution.
No payments will be made in 2025. The amounts for 2025 and 2026 will be paid together in 2026, after which the normal annual payment cycle will resume from 2027.
