WITHOUT GAINFUL ACTIVITY, YOU REMAIN COVERED BY OASI
Students, homemakers, early retirees and pensioners: even without employment income, you must remain insured and continue contributing to OASI, DI and IC.
The CVCI social insurance funds help you understand whether this obligation applies to you and manage it simply.
ESTIMATE YOUR CONTRIBUTION
Unlike employers and self-employed persons, your contribution is based on your assets and pension income, rather than on a salary.
The Federal Social Insurance Office (FSIO) provides an online tool to help you estimate it.
OUR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I know if I am considered a person without gainful employment?
If you receive no income from professional activity, or a very low income. This applies, for example, to students aged 20 and over, homemakers, people who have taken early retirement, or disability-insurance (AI) pensioners or widows/widowers who are not working.
Do I still have to contribute if my spouse works?
Not necessarily. You are not required to contribute if your spouse is already paying, through their own employment, at least twice the minimum contribution (i.e. CHF 1,060.– per year).
How is my contribution calculated?
It is based on your assets and your income received in the form of a pension, multiplied by 20. The contribution ranges from CHF 530.– to CHF 26,500.– per year. For married couples, only half of the couple's assets and income are taken into account.
OASI contributions and affiliation
Calculating your contribution based on your assets and income, affiliation procedures: what you need to know as a person without gainful activity.
Income Compensation (IC)
Military, civilian or civil protection service: your entitlements, even without regular gainful activity.
DO YOU HAVE A DEPENDENT CHILD?
Even without gainful activity, you may be entitled to family allowances if your taxable income does not exceed CHF 60,480 per year (the threshold applicable in the canton of Vaud) and you do not receive an ordinary OASI old-age pension. This procedure is not handled by our fund: please submit your claim to the cantonal compensation fund in your canton of residence.
